The battle royale mode has been popularized by games such as Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds so it’s no longer surprising to see other developers add such modes to their games. It wasn’t surprising when one was added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. If you haven’t had the chance to try it out yet, the title’s Blackout mode is going free for a week as part of a trial that Activision’s offering.
The battle royale mode has become really popular because games like Fortnite have an inherent advantage. The game itself is free-to-play so anyone can check it out regardless of whether or not they’re into this kind of gameplay.
Activision is offering the battle royale Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 free for an entire week starting January 17th. The free trial will run through to January 24th and it will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Publishers normally tend to run free weekends and not offer an entire week but that’s what Activision is doing here. It will provide fans of the franchise with enough time to get a feel for the mode and decide whether or not they want to shell out money for it.
Bring your friends — the Blackout Free Trial is coming.
