The standalone Batman movie has felt like it was all over the place as there was a bit of confusion as to who will star in it, who will direct it, and so on. To make matters worse, there was also the question of who would play the titular character as actor Ben Affleck seemed to be a bit uncertain about his future as the caped crusader.
For those who were fans (or critics) of Affleck’s portrayal as Batman, it appears that it might have been confirmed that Affleck will be stepping down in his role as Batman. In a report from Deadline, they have learnt that Affleck will no longer be playing as Batman in the upcoming standalone movie directed by Matt Reeves.
The movie also finally has a release date set for 2021 where it is expected to focus on a younger Bruce Wayne, which Affleck is not. Reeves took over the position as director where previously Affleck himself was said to be directing the movie and also starring in it, but now it seems that is no longer the case.
At the moment it is unclear who will be playing as Bruce Wayne/Batman, although we had previously heard that Jake Gyllenhaal was a potential candidate.
