Naturally Apple would love to get the Apple Watch onto the wrists of as many people as possible, which is why a report from CNBC has revealed that the company could be in talks with Medicare about possibly subsidizing the Apple Watch for at-risk seniors. No deals have been signed yet so there is a chance that this might not happen even though it makes sense.
The Apple Watch Series 4 comes with the latest health technology from Apple, where it includes a fall detection sensor that can call for help if not attended to, and there is also a built-in ECG monitor that can detect abnormalities in your heart’s rhythm. These are features that have already saved some lives and so getting them onto the wrist of senior citizens will no doubt prove beneficial.
Of course Apple isn’t doing this out of goodwill as getting more customers means more money. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had previously stated that the amount of revenue generated by their wearables (which also includes the AirPods) has exceeded peak iPod sales.
