The report claims that Apple’s vendors in the country have been given the greenlight to slash prices of the phones. This includes the 2017 iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and 2018’s iPhone XS, XS Max, and the iPhone XR. The biggest discount will apparently be for the iPhone XR which will see its prices cut by about $66, making it even cheaper considering that this is supposedly Apple’s more affordable iPhone.
As for the other iPhones, they are seeing an average price reduction of around $60. This actually quite a rare move for Apple who rarely does price cuts, especially in response to flagging sales. As pointed out by 9to5Mac, the last time Apple revised the prices of its iPhones mid-cycle was back in 2007 when they cut $200 off the price months after the iPhone was released.
We’re not sure if there are plans to expand this price cuts to other parts of the world, but given that China seems to be giving Apple the most problems, we suppose it makes sense to start there.
