This could possibly be why Apple has enjoyed a massive holiday sale, at least according to the company’s official figures where they boast that during the week from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve, App Store customers were said to have spent a whopping $1.22 billion during that week alone.
According to Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, “The App Store had a record-breaking holiday week and New Year’s Day. The holiday week was our biggest week ever with more than $1.22 billion spent on apps and games, and New Year’s Day set a new single-day record at more than $322 million.”
Apple is also claiming that this has helped their Services sector to rise to a brand new all-time record in the holiday quarter. This announcement seems to come on the heels of Apple’s CEO Tim Cook who acknowledged that iPhone demand seems to be weaker than expected, where it also saw Apple make a rare move of slashing their own estimated earnings.
