According to Apple’s Developer website, they are claiming that iOS 12 (the latest version of iOS) has been installed on 75% of all iOS devices. This means that three quarters of iOS devices out there are running on the latest version of Apple’s mobile platform. Apple also claims that based on all devices released in the past four years, 78% are running on iOS 12.
These numbers also prove that Apple’s approach to iOS 12 was right because it seems that it is being adopted at a faster pace compared to iOS 11, which back in January 2018 was sitting at around 65%. With iOS 12, Apple focused more on quality rather than flashy new features. This was in response to iOS 11 in which many bugs seemed to have escape undetected during the alpha and beta testing.
This frustrated many users, especially with Apple having the reputation of being a company that paid extremely close attention to the details. Hopefully this trend will continue with iOS 13 which is currently scheduled to be announced later this year at WWDC, assuming Apple is keeping to tradition.
