One of the features of YouTube is the “Up Next” feature which basically shows you a video that it thinks you might be interested in. This is largely based on what YouTube thinks you like based on things that you’ve watched in the past, but for the most part you don’t really have much control over it.
However that could change in the future, according to a report from Android Police who has spotted some server-side changes made to YouTube that suggests that the feature could be more customizable in the future. As you can see in the screenshots, YouTube is testing allowing users to sort these videos.
These sorting categories appear to vary, where some videos allow you to show videos by Suggestions, show videos by the channel, show videos based on the topic (in the screenshot above Fortnite is the topic in question), Related videos, and videos “For You”. We’re not sure how what kind of video determines how the Up Next videos are sorted, but like we said these appear to be tests which means that the final product could change.
No word on when YouTube plans to roll out these features, but since they’re merely tests at this point in time, it’s hard to say if it will become an actual feature or if it might simply remain as a test, but what do you think? Is this something you’d like to see?
