Unfortunately for iPhone X gamers who were hoping to play the game at 60 FPS, that won’t be happening anytime soon, if at all. This is according to a report from Eurogamer’s Digital Foundary report in which they break down the technical aspects of the game, and explained why the game won’t run at 60 FPS on the iPhone X.
According to their analysis, it isn’t because the phone can’t support the game running at 60 FPS, but rather it is Epic’s choice not to do so. This is because while the phone could in theory support 60 FPS, doing so would severely overheat the device which could lead to all kinds of unnecessary complications and could affect the phone’s functionality and durability in the long run.
This is versus the new iPhones that uses the new A12 Bionic chipset manufactured on TSMC’s 7nm process which provided more thermal headroom. Until Epic figures out a way to get around this issue on the iPhone X, don’t expect to see support for 60 FPS on the iPhone X anytime soon, or like we said earlier, if at all. In the meantime Epic is also working on trying to bring 60 FPS gaming for Android devices.
