Playing games can be a very immersive experience, and when you are streaming at the same time, it can become easy to forget that you are live and have an audience of hundreds, if not thousands, of people watching your every move. In the case of Australian Twitch streamer MrDeadMoth, it seems that his alleged assault on his wife was caught on camera which ultimately led to his arrest.
According to reports, MrDeadMoth was livestreaming a session of Fortnite when in the background, you could hear his wife asking him to stop playing, in which he responded by telling her that he will be out soon. He then goes off camera and those who were tuned in reported hearing an audible smack followed by the sounds of his wife crying.
She can later be heard screaming at him, “Don’t hit me in the face! You hit me in the face! Don’t you dare touch my face!” They begin arguing again and you can hear her cry again where it was said that it was due to a second strike. The streamer goes back to streaming before rushing off again, where you can hear the cries get louder, followed by the cries of his children.
Police from the state of NSW have since confirmed his arrest in a post on their Facebook page. “A man has been charged after the alleged assault of a Camden woman was captured as he livestreamed to an online gaming site. Officers from Camden Police Area Command were contacted after a witness reported the alleged assault of a 21-year-old woman, believed to have been livestreamed about 8.30pm (Sunday 9 December 2018).” The streamer’s Twitch account has since been deactivated.
