If you’ve enjoyed the previous Super Smash Bros titles, then chances are you might have been looking forward to getting your hands on Super Smash Bros Ultimate. If you agreed with that statement, you’re not alone because according to the charts in the UK, it seems that Super Smash Bros Ultimate is the fastest-selling Smash Bros title of all time.
The game has managed to eclipse the combined launch sales of both Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, and are also said to be 302% higher than the numbers that were achieved by previous releases, like Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and the 3DS. That being said, this achievement could actually be bigger than we think because the numbers are only for boxed sales, meaning physical copies of the game.
This means that if we were to take digital sales into account, there is a good chance that these figures could be much higher than we think. The game also managed to debut in first place on the charts, displacing other big hitters such as Red Dead Redemption 2, FIFA 19, Battlefield V, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. We’re not sure if it is related, but its launch also seems to have resulted in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to jump from the 9th spot to the 5th spot.
Given how beloved the Super Smash Bros franchise is, it’s not surprising to see the latest title being received so well, especially given the massive roster of characters, as well as the upcoming DLCs that are expected to introduce new characters as well.
