Samsung Galaxy A8s Announced With New Infinity-O Display

Judging from the rumors and reports, it seems that Samsung is not a fan of the notch design and could be working to find ways around it. One of the reports we’ve heard is that the phone could feature a circular cutout on the front display for the camera which the company actually teased in an announcement.

For those wondering about it, it turns out that it is very much the real deal. Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy A8s over in China where the handset will feature what is being called the Infinity-O display. Basically this will allow the display to stretch edge-to-edge without a notch where the front-facing camera and other sensors are usually kept.

We’re not necessarily sure if a hole in the display is a better idea, but that’s what Samsung believes is “better”. In terms of specs, we’re looking at a smartphone with a 6.4-inch 1080 x 2340 display. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset can be found where it is accompanied by either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage with microSD expansion, a triple rear-facing camera setup, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a 3,400mAh battery.

Unfortunately it seems that for now the phone might be exclusive to China given that it was announced in the country, but we’ll keep an eye out should Samsung decide to launch the phone or perhaps a variant of it in the US.
