Now it seems that Nintendo could be aiming for something similar with The Legend of Zelda franchise. According to a report from Eurogamer, they seem to be under the impression that Nintendo is apparently interested in a new Zelda title released every year. They point out how 2017 brought us Breath of the Wild, and earlier this year there was the port of Hyrule Warriors, suggesting that come 2019 we might be able to expect another Zelda title.
There were initially claims that a port of Skyward Sword could be coming to the Switch, but Nintendo later denied it, stating that there are no plans to release the game on the Switch. At the same time there has been evidence suggesting that the company is working on a new Zelda game, but whether or not it can be released in time for 2019 remains to be seen. Either that or 2019 might bring a completely different Zelda port to the console.
Whether or not this is a good idea remains to be seen as it has the potential of diluting the franchise, although so far games like Call of Duty don’t seem to be showing signs of slowing down or losing popularity.
