As some of you might have heard, Netflix is currently working on a “The Witcher” series starring none other than Henry Cavill. The series has yet to be launched, but it seems that execs at Netflix are pretty chuffed with what they’ve seen so far because according to a tweet by KC Walsh (via Comic Book), the series might have been greenlit for multiple seasons.
According to the tweet, Netflix execs are said to be “very happy” with what they’ve seen so far in terms of The Witcher series, and that they could actually be considering greenlighting multiple seasons even before the first season of the show airs. None of this has been confirmed yet so we’ll just have to wait and see, although this is not the first time that Netflix has greenlit multiple seasons in a row.
For example in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Netflix has announced that the series has actually been renewed for seasons 3 and 4, despite the show only being one season in and with a second season having yet to be launched. In a way it’s actually quite encouraging that Netflix is optimistic about The Witcher series.
This is because in the past video games that get adapted to movies tend to do quite badly, so if the potential renewal for multiple seasons of The Witcher series is anything to go by, it sounds like it could be worth keeping an eye out for, despite how some seem to feel about Cavill’s current getup as Geralt .
Sounds like @Netflix is very happy with #TheWitcher and we could see multiple seasons greenlit before season one airs or shortly after. Meaning Cavill’s schedule could be full for a while and more evidence Superman is behind him pic.twitter.com/DSnFjhAjrF
