Microsoft will enable you to step up your PowerPoint game early next year. The company has confirmed that it’s adding live captions and subtitles to PowerPoint in 2019. This new feature has been announced to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The feature provides captions and subtitles for presentations in real-time. It supports the deaf and hard of hearing community by enabling them to read what’s being talked about in real-time. Moreover, it will be possible to display the captions and subtitles in the same language or even a different one, so that non-native speakers can get a translation of the presentation.
The speech recognition functionality will automatically adapt based on the presented content for accurate recognition of names and specialized terminology. Presents will be able to easily customize the size, position, and appearance of subtitles.
Microsoft says that this feature is going to have support for 12 spoken languages at launch. Users will be able to get display on-screen captions or subtitles in one of more than 60 supported languages.
The company says that live captions and subtitles will begin rolling out for PowerPoint in late January 2019. This feature will be available for Office 365 subscribers worldwide for PowerPoint on Windows 10, Mac, and Online.
