Many are without a doubt curious as to what the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be. The company started out with superheroes that were familiar to the masses, like Captain America and Iron Man, with but contracts coming to an end, many are wondering what the company could be planning next.
According to a report from Variety, it seems that we might have an idea of what kind of movies Marvel could be looking to develop. The report claims that the studio could be developing a movie based on Shang-Chi, a superhero that is admittedly not as well known as others, but could also allow the company to launch a movie with an Asian character as its lead (many had criticized the casting choices of Marvel’s Iron Fist series on Netflix). The movie is also said to have tasked Dave Callaham to write the screenplay.
Unfortunately not much is known about the movie at this point in time as it does sound like it is still in its early stages of development, but it does sound like it could possibly be part of the MCU’s next phase. So far we know that there are several sequels in the works, such as Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Black Panther
There have also been talks about other Marvel movies based on lesser-known characters, such as Silk and Morbius. Not to mention once Disney’s acquisition of Fox is completed, we imagine that the company would want to revisit certain franchises like the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
