The original Hellboy movies for the most part were relatively well-received by fans of the comics. In fact many seem to believe that actor Ron Perlman actually embodied the character really well. However the franchise was ultimately rebooted where David Harbour was recast as the movie’s protagonist.
For those who are eager to see what the rebooted Hellboy movie could look like, then you might be pleased to learn that the official first trailer for the movie has since been released. The movie gives us a look at Harbour as Hellboy, and it also stars the likes of Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Sasha Lane.
From what we can tell, the movie seems to be going for a somewhat humorous tone. It should also be noted that the reboot will be an R-rated version of the movie, a move that seems to have been popularized by the original Deadpool which was exceptionally well-received by many, and has also prompted other superhero movies, such as Logan, to go for similar ratings as well.
Unfortunately based on the dislikes of the movie and also the comments, many don’t seem to be too pleased with the direction of this movie and its tone. It is possible that the actual movie will be better than what the trailer is showing, but we’ll have to wait and see. The Hellboy reboot is currently set for a release come April 12, 2019.
