Social media giant Facebook has had a rough year and it doesn’t seem like its troubles are going to end in the near future. That appears to have impacted its rating as one of the best companies to work for. Glassdoor’s 2019 list of “Best Places to Work” no longer has Facebook in the 1st position that it achieved last year.
Facebook’s score has dropped from 4.6 to 4.5 out of 5 and is now ranked seventh on the list. Zoom Video Communications has now taken the top position from Facebook in the technology sector. Facebook has been facing intense grilling recently over its handling of user data and its efforts to stop the spread of misinformation on its platform.
The Glassdoor report seems to suggest that its employees have reservations about the company’s practices as well. The ranking is based on eight major factors which include compensation and benefits, senior management, and work/life balance. Facebook’s employee satisfaction rating has dropped from 4.6 in Q1 to 4.3 in Q4. This is the first decline in Facebook’s award score since 2015.
The company’s employees mentioned on Glassdoor that they would like a more robust internal structure and more transparency from the leadership. Facebook isn’t the only tech giant that dropped places on the list. Google is down three positions. However, Apple climbed from 84 to 71 with a score of 4.3.
