eBay Authenticate is a verification program for luxury goods being sold on the platform. It’s an added layer of protection for the buyer. They can then purchase knowing that the product they’re paying a hefty sum for isn’t a knockoff. eBay has announced that it’s now expanding its Authenticate program to luxury jewelry. The announcement comes ahead of the lucrative holiday shopping season.
Customers will now be able to purchase more than 45,000 high-end diamond and other gemstone jewelry from eBay with complete assurance of authenticity. The goods are verified by professional authenticators.
eBay launched its Authenticate program in 2017 and initially, it covered luxury handbags. High-end watches were covered earlier this year and the program now includes listings for rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. The products that are certifiably genuine will carry an “Authenticity Verified” label on their listing.
There are more than 45,000 listings on eBay with this label now, including some for loose diamonds and gemstones. They range in price from $250 to north of $20,000. The items are verified by third-party authentication experts and sourced from over two dozen of the top-rated sellers on eBay.
The company is celebrating the expansion of this program by offering special deals and discounts on select authenticated jewelry items starting today. The listings are now live on the dedicated page for authenticated luxury jewelry.
