Now to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary, its co-creator John Romero has decided to release a spiritual successor to Doom called Sigil. This will be essentially a mod of the original Doom where it will come with nine single-player levels, and nine multiplayer levels. Sigil will be a free download but it will require gamers to own a copy of the original Doom.
However if you’re a super huge fan of Doom and Romero’s work and contributions to the game, there will also be physical copies of Sigil that can be bought. The first version will cost $40 and will come with an oversized box and a 16GB USB drive shaped like a floppy disk. The other version will retail for $166 which includes an art print, a collectible coin, a pewter statue of an in-game Easter egg, and also a soundtrack by Buckethead who was at one point in time a guitarist for Guns N’ Roses. Gamers who are interested can head on over to Sigil’s website for the details.
