However it seems that in the future, the opposite will be true for Chrome OS devices. Speaking to Android Police, Google’s senior product manager for Chrome OS Kan Liu said that in the future, users using Chrome OS devices will be able to request for mobile-friendly websites. This is because we’re starting to see more touchscreen-based Chrome OS devices, and given that desktop websites aren’t touch-friendly, being able to request for a mobile/tablet version of the website will go a long way in enhancing the user experience.
According to Li, “In the upcoming release, we are also introducing “Request tablet site” in Chrome on Pixel Slate, and with more and more touchscreen devices out there we fully expect the web to continue evolving to be more touch-friendly as well.” That being said, Liu does not mention which release of Chrome OS we might be able to expect this feature, but either way it’s something that users can look forward to in the future, plus it will be a good way for developers to test their websites without having to switch devices.
