Triple AAA games are usually priced around the $60 mark, sometimes more if it is a deluxe version. However if you’re looking to save some money, it seems that Activision is trying out a new model with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The company has announced the Battle Edition version of the game that will be priced at $30.
Of course the cheaper price tag means that certain concessions have to be made, and in this case it seems that gamers will be giving up certain features of the game. The Battle Edition will focus solely on multiplayer and the battle royale mode, Blackout. This means that gamers will be giving up on the Zombies mode, which if you were never really a fan to begin with isn’t such a bad deal.
Note that this $30 price is a limited time offer as once it expires, it will be $40. Players who wish to eventually get the full version of the game will have the opportunity to upgrade at a later date, but presumably the more affordable price tag of the Battle Edition will help to draw in more players who might have otherwise been put off by the full price of $60.
According to Rob Schonfeld, Senior Vice President, Global Digital and Mobile Commerce at Activision, “The Black Ops 4 Battle Edition is a great way to bring even more new players into the game and allow them to jump into the incredibly fun Multiplayer and Blackout modes which fans have loved so much since day one.” Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Edition is currently only available for the PC.
