For those who might own a third-party Alexa-enabled speaker and are wondering if you will get support for Apple Music, a tweet by Mashable’s Raymond Wong has revealed that Amazon has confirmed to him that support for Apple Music by third-party Alexa speakers will be coming soon. There is no word on when the support is expected to arrive, but know that it will and is only a matter of time.
That being said, we should point out that there are certain limitations to Apple Music on an Echo device (and presumably future Alexa speakers) compared to using it via the HomePod. These are slightly more advanced features like adding songs playing from a station to their Apple Music library. However if you’re after basic playback control and be able to stream music on demand, then it should be good enough, although we wouldn’t be surprised if additional features and controls were to be added in future updates.
