Amazon’s Alexa-powered Echo devices can perform a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to music streaming. They support a handful of popular streaming services from which users can listen to their favorite tracks by simply giving out voice commands. They will soon be able to do that with Apple Music as well.
Amazon has confirmed that Apple Music will be available on its Echo devices starting the week of December 17th. Support for Apple’s music streaming service will be well received. Dave Limp, Amazon Devices’ SVP, points out that Music is on of the most popular features on Alexa ever since the digital assistant was launched four years ago. “We’re thrilled to bring Apple Music – one of the most popular music services in the US – to Echo customers this holiday,” he added.
Echo device owners will thus be able to stream Apple Music’s entire library of over 50 million songs on-demand. They will be able to command Alexa to play their favorite artists, songs, albums, and even any of the playlists curated by Apple Music’s editors. Radio stations like Beats 1 will be accessible as well.
Apple Music support is coming to Amazon’s Echo devices just ahead of the holiday season. It will begin rolling out the week of December 17th.
