The good news is that if you’re an Amazon Alexa user, Alexa has recently been updated where it will now support location-based reminders and also routines. These reminders can be set using your voice if you have an Echo device, such as reminding yourself to defrost the chicken when you get home, or to put the clothes in the washing machine, and things like that.
These reminders work with or without an Echo device, and if you don’t have an Echo device at home, those reminders will be sent to your phone via push notifications, or if you do have an Echo device, Alexa will speak out those reminders to you (which hopefully won’t startle you). This is the same for routines where users can set location-based routines.
This means that when you reach home, Alexa will be able to automatically launch several commands at once, such as turn on the lights, set the thermostat, turn on the TV, and etc. These features should already be live and will be rolling out to users in the US over the course of the next few weeks.
