Some 2017 iPad Pros Suffering From Bright Spot Above Home Button

According to reports from users in the MacRumors forum (via MacRumors), it seems that there are some iPad Pro owners who are complaining about seeing a bright spot above the home button on their tablets. This seems to affect mostly the 2017 models and covers both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros.

One user writes, “I have an approx 1in spot on my iPad Pro screen which is brighter than the rest of the screen – it’s unevenly lit. The spot is about 2in above the home button, and although it has soft edges, I’m anal about my gadgets, and the difference in brightness could be described as ‘minor’, it’s clearly there. It looks a bit like a pressure spot or similar. I always keep it in a case with a screen protector and the Smart Keyboard, so it’s well looked-after.”

MacRumors has since confirmed that this problem is indeed real as they have an iPad Pro exhibiting similar issues. The reports date back to months which means that this is a problem that has been going on for a while now, and it doesn’t seem like Apple has officially acknowledged it.

Customers who have the tablet and it is still under warranty appear to be able to claim a new model for replacement, but those out of warranty aren’t having much luck and will have to pay $449 for a replacement display for the 10.5-inch model, or $599 for the 12.9-inch model.
