Xiaomi Opens 500 Mi Stores Simultaneously To Clinch Guinness Record

Xiaomi’s initial growth was fueled by its aggressive online sales strategy but the company has now been focusing on growing its retail presence. It has already opened physical stores in key markets and continues to open more to expand its retail footprint. Xiaomi revealed that it simultaneously opened 500+ Mi Stores across India and clinched a Guinness World Record in the process.

Xiaomi India managing director Manu Kumar Jain mentioned this in a tweet about the company opening up a rural Mi Store in the country. He pointed out that Xiaomi simultaneously opened 500+ Mi Stores across 14 different states in India on October 29th and set a Guinness World Record in the process.

This goes to show the importance that the Chinese company is attaching to its retail presence in the key market of India. The country has become a battleground for smartphone manufacturers as they look to capture a substantial share of this lucrative market. Xiaomi aims to open 5000 stores in India by the end of next year.

Xiaomi isn’t the only Chinese brand with a retail presence in the country. Others are opening up stores as well since it still remains a lucrative sales channel in the country. Samsung’s dominance of the Indian market is partly because of its massive retail presence as well.
