Are you thinking about introducing your child or a friend or family member to the Star Wars franchise? By now most people would probably have seen the Star Wars movies, although we imagine that there probably are some who haven’t, and if you’re trying to find a good way to introduce them, Disney might have the answer for you.
Disney has announced their plans to launch a Star Wars for Kids YouTube channel in which the channel is expected to play host to a series of Star Wars animated shorts. These shorts basically give viewers the gist of what has transpired in Star Wars so that in the event the person doesn’t have the time to sit through six Star Wars movies, these shorts should help them play catchup.
The best part is that these shorts will utilize the dialog and sounds from the movies, which means that they’ll be pretty authentic in their reenactment. According to James Waugh, VP of franchise content and strategy at Lucasfilm, “Over the years, I’ve had so many of my friends who are parents tell me how much they wanted to introduce their kids to Star Wars but didn’t feel that their kids were quite ready for the movies yet. They wanted a way to celebrate the universe they love.”
While these shorts seem to be designed for kids, presumably to prep the next-generation of Star Wars fans, we suppose it should still be good enough for existing fans and for those who want a primer on Star Wars.
