Sony is one of the few Android manufacturers that have already released the Android 9 Pie update for a few of their compatible handsets. The list of Sony smartphones that have received Pie is now expanding as the company has released Android 9 for three additional models. The Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1, and XZ1 Compact have all received the Pie update.
Sony had announced earlier this year in August that it would release Android 9 Pie for the Xperia XZ1 and XZ2 series as well as the Xperia XZ Premium in November. Sony then released the update for the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact ahead of schedule last month. It’s now rolling out the much-awaited update for the XZ Premium, XZ1, and XZ1 Compact.
The Android 9 Pie update for these devices brings all of the features that are part and parcel of the latest iteration of Android. This includes user interface changes and new features just as a revamped navigation experience.
Sony is rolling out build number 47.2.A.0.306 for the aforementioned devices. It includes the updated camera UI from Sony, HDR enhancement for videos, and the ability to record slow-motion videos at 1080p resolution and 960 frames per second. It may be a couple of days before the update for these handsets goes live in all regions.
