Based on the speed tests we’ve seen and also the benchmarks, it suggests that Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset is one heck of a chip where it seems to be capable of offering near-desktop levels of performance. However it seems that Qualcomm might not be too far behind in terms of coming up with something better/more powerful.
According to a recent benchmark sighting, Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8150, appears to have potentially beaten the A12 in terms of benchmark scores. It reportedly scored 362,292 which is higher than the A12. AnTuTu’s website lists the A12 as having a score of 352,405.
It also seems to have outperformed Huawei’s Kirin 980 chipset (which Huawei said would outperform the A12) which scored a 309,628. Assuming that the results of the benchmark is accurate, it looks like Qualcomm might have a winner on their hands and that the flagship phones for 2019 will be powerhouses.
That being said, we doubt that Apple and Huawei are sitting idly by and chances are come 2019, Apple’s A13 chipset and Huawei’s next-gen chipset could potentially offer even better performance. However we should state that benchmark scores only tell one side of the story, and that there are other factors that make a great phone as well.
