One of the problems with Android phones and the companies that make them is that unless you’re Google and you own a Pixel device, it’s hard to tell if new features will be coming to your phone, especially if you own an older device. However at the same time it is understandable as companies would much prefer to devote their resources to current and future products.
However the good news is that if you are still holding onto the Galaxy S8, S8+, or the Note 8, it seems that Samsung’s new One UI will find its way to your device in an update, as confirmed by Samsung to the folks at Android Authority. For those unfamiliar, the One UI is basically a new UI that Samsung unveiled at SDC.
For years the company has been using TouchWiz which was rebranded to the Samsung Experience before One UI. Many seem to be pretty pleased with what Samsung has created as based on screenshots, One UI is a much cleaner look. The UI is expected to part of an update for the Galaxy S9, S9+, and the Note 9, so it’s nice to know that Samsung has not forgotten its older handsets.
We’re not sure if there are plans to bring it to even older handsets like the Galaxy S7 or S7+, but we wouldn’t get our hopes up. In the meantime Samsung has also confirmed that Android 9.0 Pie will be making its way to its 2018 flagship handsets in January next year.
