Logitech Confirms They Were In Talks To Acquire Plantronics, But Not Anymore

Logitech is known for many products, such as keyboards, mice, speakers, webcams, and so on. However in the headphone department, at least as far as non-gaming headsets are concerned, Logitech doesn’t quite have as strong a presence as they would like. This is why when it was previously rumored that they could be acquiring Plantronics, it made sense.

For those who are wondering how true the rumors are, it turns out it was partly true. Logitech has since confirmed that they were indeed in talks with Plantronics over a potential acquisition, but the company has since claimed that those discussions have been terminated and unsurprisingly they declined to provide further information.

The press release from Logitech reads, “In response to media reports and in accordance with Swiss disclosure requirements, Logitech International (SIX: LOGN) (Nasdaq: LOGI) today confirmed it was engaged in discussions with Plantronics regarding a potential transaction. However, those discussions were terminated. Logitech does not intend to comment further.”

At the moment in terms of consumer audio products, Logitech previously acquired the Ultimate Ears brand, so they do have an arm that makes consumer headphones, but like we said, it’s not necessarily a brand that comes to mind compared to the likes of Bose, Sony, Sennheiser, and etc.
