As its name implies, this is a USB-C SSD which means that it should play nicely with Apple’s recently-launched MacBook Air which features two USB-C ports. Given that the laptop can get pretty expensive when you furnish it with more storage, external storage solutions like this could be a slightly more affordable alternative to increasing your storage.
LaCie is boasting that its new USB-C SSD will be capable of 540MB/s read speeds and 500MB/s write speeds, and will be available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB options starting at $115, which is admittedly rather affordable when you think about it. LaCie claims that the SSD can be used as a scratch disc, where users will be able to edit directly off the drive instead of having to copy files over to the computer first.
It has also been pre-formatted in exFAT so that it should play nicely with Apple’s macOS and Microsoft’s Windows platform out of the box. There will also be a complimentary month of Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps plan, and a three-year Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Plan included as well.
