Earlier thanks to leaked images, it appeared that DJI had a new product called the DJI Osmo Pocket in the works. For those who might have been intrigued by the idea of a small and potentially pocketable version of the Osmo gimbal, you’ll be pleased to learn that DJI has since officially taken the wraps off it.
In case you’re unfamiliar with DJI’s Osmo lineup, these are handheld gimbals that come with built-in stabilizing technology in them. This means that as you walk, the gimbal will try to correct itself into maintaining its position that will reduce in considerably less shaky video footage. The Osmo Pocket does more or less the same thing, except that it is smaller than the regular Osmo and Osmo Mobile.
It will feature a 1/2.3-inch 12MP sensor that will be capable of recording 4K video at 60fps. It measures 4-inches tall which means that if you can fit your phone into your pocket, this shouldn’t be much of a problem either. It also features 3-axis stabilization, which is good news considering that the previous leak suggested 2-axis stabilization.
There will also be a built-in touchscreen on the handle of the gimbal that allows you to interact with the device, and will also come with various shooting modes. There is even a universal port that will work with a bunch of accessories, including a plug that you can use to attach a smartphone to if you want to use that as a display. The DJI Osmo Pocket is priced at $349 and is currently available for pre-order.
