However this is where Blackmagic’s eGPUs come in, where these are external GPUs that can be used to attach to existing computers, like Apple’s iMacs or MacBooks if you need that extra boost of power. Unfortunately for those looking forward to the Blackmagic eGPU Pro, Apple’s listing for the device on its website (via 9to5Mac) is now saying that it has been delayed to a release in December.
The device was originally pegged for a release this month and was announced alongside the new Mac mini and MacBook Air laptops last month, although given that we’re already in the last day of November without any word from Apple, we suppose this delay does not come as a surprise.
Note that this is the Pro version of the Blackmagic eGPU which will feature the use of AMD’s Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics processor. There is the non-Pro version which uses the Radeon Pro 580 graphics processor. That particular model is available in case you’d rather not wait.
