According to a confirmation with Gamestar (via Stevivor), Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirmed that both games will not be using a brand new game engine, and instead will continue to use its Creation Engine that was originally created back in 2001. The engine has been updated and modified over the years, and apparently the company feels that it is still sufficient and powerful enough to get the job done.
According to Howard, “For Starfield even more of it changes. And for The Elder Scrolls 6, out there on the horizon even more. We like our editor. It allows us to create worlds really fast and the modders know it really well. There are some elementary ways we create our games and that will continue because that lets us be efficient and we think it works best.”
That being said, Bethesda has made it clear that while they announced the Elder Scrolls VI, the game is still a long way from launch, which has us wondering when it does launch, how will the Creation Engine hold up?
