Bang & Olufsen Detail Rollout Of AirPlay 2 Support To It Speakers

While most speakers and most companies tend to use Bluetooth to connect devices wirelessly, like a set of speakers to a phone, Apple has instead opted to use its own technology in the form of AirPlay, which admittedly does offer up more features compared to Bluetooth. For those who actually do appreciate the use of AirPlay, then you might be interested to learn that Bang & Olufsen will be rolling out support for AirPlay 2 over the coming weeks and months.

Based on the release schedule, the company expects that the rollout of AirPlay 2 support will take place in the next 6 weeks or so. This is also expected to cover 10 existing speakers which will come in the form of a free OTA update. This includes the Beoplay M3, Beosound Shape, Beosound 1 (1st gen), Beosound 2 (1st gen), Beoplay A9, and also the recently announced Beosound Edge.

According to the company’s announcement, the rollout was meant to be done earlier but due to quality issues, they decided to delay it. “We did communicate that we would have the AirPlay 2 integration ready by September. However, we have concluded that the integration into our products wasn’t not good enough, so we have decided to do a step by step release over the coming months to ensure a strong customer experience.”
