Microsoft is no stranger to selling devices from other companies in its official store and it appears to have extended this privilege to some of Amazon’s Echo devices. They’re the smart speakers from the online retail giant that are powered by its Alexa smart assistant. A couple of models are now being sold from the official Microsoft store.
Listings for the second generation Echo and the latest Amazon Echo dot were spotted on Microsoft’s official online store by Twitter user WalkingCat. Both devices are available not only from the online store but also from Microsoft’s retail stores in the United States.
This won’t really be surprising that Microsoft and Amazon have been closely working together in some areas. The two companies teamed up to integrate their Cortana and Alexa smart assistants and even previewed this integration earlier this year.
Moreover, Microsoft’s Xbox One console supports Alexa while Amazon only recently launched the Alexa Windows 10 app to bring its personal assistant to all PCs. This appears to be a natural progression of the partnership between Microsoft and Amazon.
The aforementioned Amazon Echo products are now available for purchase from Microsoft’s online store as well as its retail stores in the United States.
