When Apple announced the AirPods, many made fun of the company, especially given how Apple was known for their design, the AirPods did look a bit silly as it looked like regular earphones with their cables cut off. However much like how Apple won over customers with the iPad, they did the same with the AirPods.
In fact according to data compiled by Thinknum (via AppleInsider), it turns out that Apple’s AirPods were quite a hit over at Best Buy where for the month of October, the earphones actually turned out to be the retailer’s top-selling item. Apple’s AirPods have hovered around Best Buy’s top-selling list for a while now, but this actually marks the first time that the headphones have managed to clinch the first position.
Exactly how many units of the AirPods Apple has sold so far remains unclear as the company has yet to officially announce or confirm how many they’ve sold to date. However it’s not surprising to see them sell so well, especially since at a point in time, it was quite difficult to get your hands on one.
There have also been rumors that Apple could have a newer version of the AirPods planned which many expected to be announced at its iPad event last month, but that never came to pass which means we’re either looking at a quiet refresh in the Apple Online Store, or it could be announced early next year.
