Xiaomi makes a wide variety of devices that are generally priced very competitively against existing products in the market. It has stuck to this strategy for the AirDots as well. They’re a pair of new truly wireless earbuds from the company that cost under $30. The Mi AirDots Youth Edition will go on sale starting November 11th.
The AirDots have a minimal design. They come in white and ship with a plastic case that’s also used to charge them when not in use. Given that this is an affordable product, don’t expect features like noise-cancellation and water resistance which you can find on more expensive wireless earbuds. Nevertheless, the CNY 200 or almost $30 price tag for a pair of truly wireless earbuds certainly warrants attention.
Weighing 4.2g each, the earbuds have a 7.2mm driver with a touch sensitive area on the side through which users can control the music and even summon the assistant. Audio is played over Bluetooth 5.0. The battery life is said to be good for four hours on a single charge. The carrying case can juice them up for 12 hours when it’s fully charged.
Xiaomi is only selling the AirDots in China at this point in time. They will eventually make their way to other markets across the globe, even if Xiaomi doesn’t release them officially, through resellers.
