Target wants more of your dollars during the holiday season which is why the retailer has announced that it’s removing the minimum amount required for free shipping. It normally requires customers to have $35 worth of products in their basket to qualify for free two-day shipping.
The retailer’s announcement follows shortly after Walmart announced that it’s going to cover items from third-party merchants in its free shipping program as well. There’s obviously going to be intense competition among retailers during the holiday season so Target is making its move now as well.
From November 1st to December 22nd, Target will provide free two-day shipping on all orders from its website, regardless of what the amount is. There will be no need to buy $35 worth of products to get free shipping.
The idea here is obviously to get people to shop from Target instead of rivals like Amazon. The holiday season is a busy time for all retailers and Target would much prefer if customers opted for its website. The retailer is also expanding its Drive Up service. The service which allows customers to order items online and then have them delivered to their car will soon be available at almost 1,000 Target stores.
