Apple’s iPhone Xs Max represents the best iPhone that Apple has to offer. Not only does the phone pack a massive 6.5-inch display, but it uses an OLED screen which does offer up better colors and is also in theory more energy efficient than LCD, and let’s not forget the dual camera setup on the back.
However it seems that despite it being the best of the best Apple has to offer at the moment, the cheaper iPhone XR is doing pretty well as well. The phone had only recently gone up for pre-order but according to a report from MacRumors, it seems that some models have already started to sell out, and are listing shipping estimates of 1-2 weeks which means that they’ll only arrive in early November instead of the 26th of October date that Apple had previously promised.
Now it is possible that Apple might have simply ordered less units of the iPhone XR compared to the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. After all Apple had a less than stellar experience with the iPhone 5c where we heard that Apple was sitting on a ton of unsold inventory, so maybe they’re tempering their expectations with the iPhone XR as well.
At the same time notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted that demand for the iPhone XR would be better than expected and so far it’s starting to look that way. Granted there are certain features “missing” compared to the iPhone Xs, but the fact that it is a few hundred dollars cheaper makes it a much more compelling purchase.
