Low-end devices are obviously never a priority for major software releases and that has been the case with the Samsung Galaxy J3. Even though it has been a long time since Samsung first started rolling out the Oreo update for its devices, the Galaxy J3 has just now received it on Verizon. The update arrives as Google and its OEM partners are now busy with sending out the next major update, Android Pie, to supported devices.
The situation is often worse with carrier-locked devices. The updates can often get held up by the carrier as it performs its own tests and adds apps and whatnot. This can result in users having to wait even longer for the update to arrive.
It has been a considerable wait indeed for the Galaxy J3 owners on Verizon. Big Red is finally sending out this update to both the Galaxy J3 Eclipse and the Galaxy J3 Mission. All of the improvements that are part and parcel of Android Oreo are included in this release. Some overall improvements for the system are present as well.
Galaxy J3 owners on Verizon should soon receive an over-the-air update notification on their handsets. It shouldn’t be long before it arrives as the update is now rolling out.
