Rockstar has a habit of making a big deal of its games breaking records. The Grand Theft Auto series has often enabled the company to boast about the sales of its titles and this time around, it’s because of Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar has announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has achieved the “single-biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment.”
The company says that Red Dead Redemption 2 has achieved more than $725 million in worldwide retail sell-through during its first three days after launch. It makes the title Rockstar’s second-highest grossing entertainment launch of all time. It’s second only to Grand Theft Auto 5 which achieved more than $1 billion in retail sell-through worldwide after its first three days since launch.
Sony has also confirmed that this game has set new records on the PlayStation Network for the highest-ever pre-orders, highest day one sales, and highest sales for the first three days in market.
The online component for this popular game, Red Dead Online, is due to be launched next month. It will initially arrive as a public beta. It’s billed as the evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption. More news about Red Dead Online will be provided in the near future by Rockstar.
