This news comes from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau who said that the company needs more time to work on the updates. Unfortunately he did not provide us with a timeline as to when the updates will be released, so owners of the devices mentioned above will just have to wait as there is no indication of whether this delay means it will be pushed to 2019, or if a very late 2018 release is still on the cards.
There was also no mention of what could have caused the delay, but that being said we suppose it’s better that the update get delayed, rather than it being released while it is filled with bugs and issues, which might be worse than waiting a few more months. The OnePlus 6T is expected to be officially announced at the end of October, and it is unclear if this delay could cause any issues with the handset’s software, or if it could be launched with Android 9.0 Pie preinstalled.
