After weeks of rumors about this new affordable device, HMD Global today officially unveiled the Nokia 7.1. It has made the Nokia 7.1 specs and price official. The company has also confirmed that this handset is going to be released in the United States. It’s an Android One device which means that customers will get a stock Android experience with the promise of swift firmware updates.
Think of it as the successor to the Nokia 7 that was launched in October last year as a China-exclusive. The device now has a 5.84 inch LCD 19:9 aspect ratio display with Full HD+ resolution. It even supports HDR10 and SDR to HDR upscaling which is why HMD Global has branded it as Pure Display.
There’s a Snapdragon 636 processor under the hood with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Customers in the U.S. will get the base model, though, which features 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. There’s a dual camera system at the back with 12 + 5 megapixel sensors, 1.28μm pixels and an f/1.8 aperture. It has support for dual phase detection autofocus, live bokeh mode, and a pro mode. An 8 megapixel front camera is present as well.
The device has a really nice design as well. It’s all glass with an aluminum frame and it certainly doesn’t betray its price tag. The device will be available for pre-order in the United States tomorrow for $349 unlocked. It will be released on October 28th. The Nokia 7.1 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo but will receive the Android 9 Pie update by next month.
