So what about those who were affected and have had their files deleted as a result of the buggy update? Thankfully Microsoft is here to help because in a tweet by Dona Sarkar who runs the Windows Insider Program, those who have been affected can contact Microsoft directly where the company will help them to recover their deleted files.
According to Sarkar’s tweet, “If you’ve run into the ‘missing files after update’ issue for 1809/October 2018 Fall update, please call our support line. They have the tools to get you back to a good state.” More information on how one can get in contact with Microsoft can be found on Microsoft’s support page.
It is unclear when the update is expected to resume but given that this is supposed to be part of the company’s October update, hopefully it will resume rolling out before the month ends, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding the update.
