Some renders appeared online a couple of weeks ago suggesting that the company could release new Surface models in black color. It first launched the “VaporMG” black color for the Surface RT almost six years ago. Many customers would be delighted to see the return of this hue for Surface devices and now the company appears to have confirmed accidentally that it’s going to do just that.
In a now-removed listing for a Surface event in New Zealand, Microsoft mentions that the Surface is going “back to black.” The event will take place on October 16th.
The listing doesn’t mention the Surface devices that will be unveiled at this event. What we do know from earlier reports is that a new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are on the agenda. Both are now expected to be launched in black variants.
These devices will feature the latest processors from Intel but might not have USB Type-C ports as suggested by recent reports. It’s possible that the black color might be limited to the high-end models of both the Surface Laptop 2 and the Surface Pro 6.
We won’t have to wait until October 16th to find that out because Microsoft will actually be announcing these devices at home in the United States tomorrow. Its event in New York City starts at 4 pm ET.
