For those hoping to see Apple make the full transition to all OLED models, it seems that you might have to wait a little longer. This is because according to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he expects that Apple will continue offering LCD iPhone models even in 2019. According to Kuo, he claims that Apple will be maintaining the same lineup of 2018 in 2019.
This means that we can expect an OLED 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone, followed by an LCD 6.1-inch iPhone. Exactly what these iPhones will be called is still unclear, but if you were hoping for a full OLED lineup or maybe even different screen sizes, then you might be disappointed. Note that this isn’t an official confirmation, but Kuo has been known to accurately predict Apple’s plans in the past so it stands to reason that this could be true.
That being said this might not be such a surprising move by Apple. Kuo had also previously raised his estimates of the iPhone XR (2018’s LCD iPhone model) where he believes it will actually do better than expected, so it would make sense for Apple to keep it around if it is doing well.
