Earlier this year JBL unveiled the Link Bar. This is a soundbar that also doubles as an Android TV and also comes with Google Assistant, meaning that it is essentially an all-in-one system that will not only enhance the sound from your existing TV, but gives it smart TV features, and also has a digital assistant that you can control with your voice.
It sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Unfortunately if you were hoping to get your hands on it, you might have to wait until 2019 to do so. This is according to a tweet by user Nate Harris (via Android Police) in which apparently he was sent an email from B&H informing him that his order had been delayed.
B&H writes in the email that they were informed about this from the manufacturer, and they also state that they do not know when the units will actually come in, and that they do not think it will be fulfilled by the end of this calendar year. This means that units might actually only start to ship in 2019, but even then when in 2019 is unclear.
This means that if you were eyeing the device, either you choose to wait until 2019 before placing your order, or maybe it’s time to start looking elsewhere for alternatives. Granted there aren’t many soundbar + Google Assistant + Android TV combos out there, but perhaps the Sonos Beam could be an alternative.
