However it seems that the company could be considering cutting back on its live TV offerings and instead focus their resources towards on-demand content. This is according to Hulu CEO Randy Freer who spoke to The Information (paywall; via 9to5Mac) where he stated that the company is looking into creating “skinnier” bundles for live TV.
According to Freer, “We have to be able to evolve so we can provide the customers the news and sports and entertainment in a way that makes sense, bundled in a way that allows us to create packages that have a positive margin.” Also by offering skinnier bundles, it will give customers more flexibility in choosing what they want to watch.
At the moment Hulu’s live TV bundles are priced at $40 a month, so if they can find a way to make a skinnier bundle that could potentially cost less, it might make them a more tempting platform. That being said, nothing has changed yet but this is something that the company is looking into for the future.
